Sears Windows FAQ

Windows sold by Sears are made by Wincore. We have heard of salespeople from Sears telling people that they make their own windows, but that’s not the case. These windows are perfectly fine, but not particularly remarkable and tend to be over priced in our opinion.

Usually they are not a good deal. Sears Home Services traditionally sells products at very high prices. They use the old fashioned business model for remodeling sales and they use the Sears name to try to justify higher than average prices. Since Sears went bankrupt we would expect to see the value of the Sears name severely diminished in the eyes of most customers. Sears Home Services continues to exist long after the Sears stores are gone and I have no idea why.

Yes. Sears windows have been sold at very high prices for many years and it really doesn’t make any sense. There’s no reason at all to pay more for these windows than you would for comparable windows from any other company.

Yes. Sears went bankrupt and closed the Sears retail stores, but Sears Home Services continues to exist as a separate company.

Due to the fact that the Sears stores are now gone and the Sears brand name doesn’t carry nearly as much value as it once did I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sears Home Services vanish one day. I just don’t think the business makes any sense. If the Sears Home Services company were to go away then the warranty would be questionable at best.

No. I would defininltey not recommend buying windows from Sears. In my experience the Sears in-home salespeople charge high prices for average products and they are just not a great deal. You can find better window options here.

The windows themselves are perfectly fine. The main downside is the price. The windows from Sears are very expensive relative to the quality. The windows are made by Wincore which is a smaller window manufacturer. That’s also a risky bet as the small window manufacturers can go out of business quickly leaving all of their customers with no warranty or access to parts. I would not recommend buying windows from Sears.

No. The windows offered by Sears are pretty typical. You can find the same or similar options from other dealers, typically at better prices.

All windows sold by Sears are custom made so they will take some time to arrive. I would expect you’ll see the windows in 2-3 months after placing the order. If the timing is important you should talk to your sales person about it. I would also ask what happens if the windows take longer than expected because salesmen will sometimes say anything to get an order. For now. Since the Sears stores have gone bankrupt it wouldn’t surprise me if we see the Sears Home Services business either close or get bought out in the coming years. Who knows what the future will hold but for now Sears Home Services does continue to exist.
