  1. I tried to sign up for your email. It says it was sent but I see nothing, not even in junk mail, at least if it was from The Window Dog. Anyway, we are looking at vinyl replacement windows for a townhouse. Many casement, some single hung, a few double hung, also one set of 3 sliding doors, a door with a glass window, and a skylight. So, lots of items. I’m considering Alside Mezzo, Revere Berkshire Elites, and items from Window World. Casement windows seem to show up separately from double hung windows. Does Alside Mezzo, for ex., come in a casement version? I have an appt. set with Window Universe selling Revere. Window World is demanding we both be home and I’m trying to get a date that would work. They specifically told me they make their own windows, a fact which seems misleading based on info I see on here. Since it appears they sell an Alside product, would you still suggest we see an Alside dealer selling the Mezzo line?

  2. A second comment following up on the previous one: I contacted Alside, two different wholesaler locations here in Cleveland. They each recommended individuals who don’t show up on Angie’s List. What do you suggest?

    1. I’m pretty confident Window Universe will be able to take care of you! You can read about my background here. I’ve known the owners of the Window Universe in Cleveland for over 10 years now and they’re the friendliest company in town!

      1. As it turned out, Window Nation doesn’t sell Alside windows (just siding I guess). I liked the cleaner lines of their Vytex window vs. Softline. We are replacing 15 yr. old builder grade windows in a condo and need to conform to outside appearance. You didn’t seem to rate Vytex so highly. Still meeting with Window Universe and Window World. Will the Revere compare favorably with Vytex and whatever Window World may show me?

          1. Window world says their windows are double strength and can stand on them. Is this important? We live two blocks from the lake and it can get quite windy here.

  3. You can stand on just about any replacement window with double strength glass. There’s nothing too special about that, but it does make for a fun demonstration!

We did have someone jump on a window with high heals on at a home show. That didn’t end well. Be careful out there!

  4. I actually did receive your emails but my granddaughter was on my computer and accidentally erased “My favorites” so I was wondering if you could re-send them. Also, I live in Mount Laurel, New Jersey (near Cherry Hill, NJ) and was wondering if you could recommend a window company in my area. I am only looking to replace 3 – 6 double hung windows in my condo. I have already met with three contactors but they all seemed to pull at least two of the scams that you are warning against. Actually, Renewal by Anderson tried to charge me $1600 per window size 35″ x 60″ and had the nerve to tell me that was a special “one day only” price. Another vendor tried to sell me “Soft-Lite” windows for $750 each and then lied to me and said they manufactured and serviced those windows themselves which I later found out was not the case. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  5. I was going to hire Window World of Boston to teplace 14 windows. I am a little concerned after reviewing Angieslist, they rate them as a “B”.
The price is better than others. The windows are similar to others I viewed.
    Should I be concerned?

    1. I might be a little concerned. I know a great company in Boston if you haven’t purchased windows yet. Just let me know and I’ll connect you with the owner.

  6. HI Window Dog,
I need your help ASAP! In need of some replacement windows and have looked at Marvin and Soft light. I am a chemically sensitive indivigual and need something that has no wood products and a vinyl that doesn’t out gass. I am very allergic to chimney smoke in the winter so need something air tight. The Marvin Infinity looked good but looks as if there was more air infiltration than I want and I also looked at Soft Lite and I love the specs but don’t like the color of the glass. I am running out of time and need some direction. I am in Overland Park Kansas City and know you have family here. What company do you recommend and better yet what windows would you advise. Hope you can be my window angel cold air and smoke is on its way. HELP!

      1. Hey window dog…this is like getting mail that traveled by way of snail across the desert but got this message and have been trying to white knuckle it out over winter with my Chronic illness etc and yes we still need windows. I should have been on top of this months ago but giving you a shout out now, so that if you see it please do let me know when you might be able to take a look at what we have. We are in limbo as we don’t know if it is time to list our home or not. If so, it may not be a good time to be doing replacement windows but I still have one pane out and missing that I would think is a close must. Please give me a shout out ASAP!!!!! Spring rains are on their way.
        Thanks!

  7. – Window replacement cost can vary significantly depending on the size, material, and type of window you choose. On average, window replacement projects can cost between 300 and1,000 per window, but this can go up for high-end options or special features.
