milgard windows reviews

Find our Milgard windows FAQ below. Here we’ll look at all of the common questions we get about Milgard windows. If you have a question that isn’t answered we invite you to post a comment at the bottom to ask your question. We read all of the comments and will be happy to answer your question for everyone to see.

Did Milgard go out of business during covid?

No, but they permanently closed multiple production facilities. Milgard was purchased by low cost producer Mi windows in November 2019 and then in May of 2020 they permanently closed 2 US manufacturing plants in Aurora, CO and Grand Prairie, TX.

Milgard branded windows are no longer available in Texas.

What are Milgard windows made of?

Milgard makes vinyl, fiberglass and aluminum windows. Vinyl windows tend to be the most popular for a variety of reasons with fiberglass and aluminum making up a smaller share of the replacement window market.

Are Milgard windows for new construction or replacement?

Milgard was primarily known as a new construction window company, but they do also make remodeling products.

Are Milgard windows a good choice?

They’re not the best choice. Milgard windows tended to be a lower end product in the past. They were acquired by Mi windows in 2019 and Mi windows has also been known as a low end window manufacturer.

That doesn’t provide any indication that the products will become any better. For a higher end result you might want to look elsewhere.

Where are Milgard windows available?

Milgard windows are generally available in the western US, but not in Texas. Years ago Milgard tried to expand to the east but it appears that did not work. I remember when they had a plant in Fredericksburg, VA, but those days are long gone.

Since Milgard windows was purchased by Mi and some manufacturing has been consolidated it seems Milgard will just be another brand or product line offered by low cost producer Mi windows.

Why would someone pick Milgard windows?

Usually Milgard windows would be selected by someone looking for a low cost option or for a new construction window. New construction windows are generally cheap and not as nice as windows designed for the remodeling market.

This is because builders pick new construction windows and builders just want to save money. Remodeling windows are selected by people who are just buying windows so they’re more focused on quality. Manufacturers know this so they make new constitution windows cheaper, sacrificing quality, and they make replacement windows nicer.

Is the Milgard window warranty any good?

In general it’s positive that Milgard is now owned by Mi windows as that means the warranty is likely to hold up for a long time. One downside is that the Milgard window warranty can get a little complicated since the acquisition. There are different wararnties for the Tuscany and Trinsic series windows than for the other models. The warranty for all models was updated in October of 2021. You can find all of the Milgard window warranties here.

Who owns Milgard windows?

Milgard windows was purchased by low cost producer Mi windows in 2019. Within about 6 months Mi windows closed 2 of the former Milgard window manufacturing plants and eliminated distribution of Milgard windows to Texas. Find more replacement window info here.

Did Milgard windows get sold?

Yes. Milgard was purchased by Mi windows in 2019. Mi windows is known as a low cost and low quality producer of vinyl windows. In addition to Milgard, Mi windows also purchased Sunrise windows and they now offer windows all over the US.

Why can’t you get Milgard windows in Texas?

After Milgard windows was purchased by Mi windows they closed 2 of the Milgard manufacturing facilities. With the loss of those facilities the plan was to produce Milgard windows in the other Mi windows manufacturing facilities. The Milgard brand is still available in the western US except in Texas. Mi windows announced they would no longer offer Milgard branded in windows in The Lone Star State.
