Are there any other fiberglass replacement windows available beyond the Pella Impervia and the Marvin Infinity?

There are a couple small manufacturers but fiberglass isn’t really the most popular option. They tend to have might higher air infiltration rates than a nicer vinyl window. What is attracting you to a fiberglass window?

I had heard that the fiberglass has less thermal expansion and contraction and that the seals would last longer than with a vinyl window. That is a concern to me. I have vinyl windows that came with the house I bought new. The seals started popping in 10 years. I don’t want to have to replace windows every 10 years. I am not a rich guy.

I think that’s just a thing fiberglass window salespeople say. If they had any data to back up claims like that they’d share it. Since they don’t you can assume that’s all just make believe. Builders use the cheapest possible windows so new construction windows will always be junk.

That fact that cheap new construction windows failed doesn’t mean you can’t get nice vinyl windows, it just means the builder didn’t pick nice vinyl windows.

Replacement windows will also often come with a lifetime warranty so you won’t need to worry about replacing anything every 10 years. Good luck with the project.

Thoughts on Storm window installation over painted shut wood windows .

Hi Fred, storm windows can often cost almost the same as new windows. With new windows you get a much more efficient solution and a better end result. I’d at least compare that option before buying storm windows. I’d say storm windows are an older solution and something that’s really not used too often any more.
