Are Gerkin Windows energy efficient?

Not particularly. We’ll have more info in the detailed reviews above. A quick look at their website shows double hung vinyl windows with U-Factors of 0.30 and air infiltration rates of 0.05. Those numbers are fine, but you can easily find more efficient options out there.

Is the Gerkin Windows warranty any good?

The vinyl window warranty from Gerkin is certainly not the best you’ll find. For example, the Gerkin Comfort Series warranty is not transferable at all, that’s a little unusual.

In addition the warranty on the weather stripping and hardware is only 5 years. The warranty on the sealed glass unit is 20 years if you live in the house, 10 years if you don’t. They don’t cover labor to replace a defective window and there is no coverage for glass breakage.

It’s just not a particularly good warranty when compared to other window options.

What’s the bottom line?

Well, there’s more detail to come but this isn’t the best option around. The windows aren’t all that efficient, the warranties aren’t that good. I know the salesman must have told you these windows are great, but I don’t see it.
