reliabilt windows reviews from lowes with prices warranty and costs

Find our ReliaBilt windows FAQ below. Here we’ll look at all of the common questions we get about ReliaBilt windows. If you have a question that isn’t answered we invite you to post a comment at the bottom to ask your question. We read all of the comments and will be happy to answer your question for everyone to see.

Who makes ReliaBilt windows?

ReliaBilt windows are made by Atrium windows and they are sold at Lowes stores. Atrium windows are known to be a low cost option and typically aren’t the nicest windows out there. Box stores are also known for selling very cheap vinyl windows that are not very nice. If you’re looking at ReliaBilt windows my opinion would be that you should look for another option.

Can you only get ReliaBilt windows at Lowes stores?

Yes. The ReliaBilt brand name is only available at Lowes stores, but Atrium windows are available from other building products distributers. You can get basically the same windows from other places, but you might not want to. Atrium windows are not the nicest options and you can find more info about Atrium windows including reviews and customer feedback here.

Is the ReliaBilt window warranty any good?

It’s better than you might expect considering how cheap the windows are. You should be aware of the limitations if you’re considering buying these windows. For example the new construction warranty only covers labor for one year and the glass breakage coverage is optional so it may not be included in your order.

When we see people who are upset about their window warranty it’s usually because those people didn’t read the warranty when they bought their windows. Read the warranty and understand what is covered and you’ll likely have a happier window shopping experience.

Are ReliaBilt windows any good?

Not really. ReliaBilt windows are generally a very cheap products. Cheap products like that are what give vinyl windows a bad reputation. There are other window options that are much nicer. If you’re considering ReliaBilt windows it’s my opinion that you should buy another window product instead. Find window reviews here to find a better solution.

Should you buy windows from Lowes?

No. Box stores generally only offer low quality window products and their window installation programs don’t have the best reputations. It seems that box stores could do a great job at selling and installing replacement windows, but they don’t do it. I would suggest looking for a better option.

Is Lowes or Home Depot good at installing windows?

No. In my experience Lowes or Home Depot are not a very good place to by new windows. It can feel convenient to walk into a box store and order windows, but they’re not known for providing great quality. Box stores use sub contractor installers to install the windows and we hear from customers who were unhappy with that experience. A company that specializes in replacement windows will usually offer nicer windows and better service.

How much should ReliaBilt windows cost?

ReliaBilt windows are a very low cost option so they’ll be on the cheaper end of the spectrum. Stock windows in Lowes stores will likely cost something like $250 or $300. Beware that these are super cheap windows and they’re not nearly as nice as windows you can get from more specialized dealers or nicer window companies. Are ReliaBilt windows in stock for immediate pickup?

Yes. Lowes stores will generally have ReliaBilt windows in stock so you can pick them up right away. The downside to this is that you have to pick from one of the sizes that they happen to have on the shelf. Most other vinyl windows are custom made so you can order the exact size you want.

The advantage to standard size windows is that you can get them right away. Ultimately the windows will be in the house for decades so it’s usually best to get custom sized windows that will fit just right, even if it takes a few weeks longer.

Are custom windows better than ReliaBilt windows at Lowes?

Yes. It is always recommended to get custom windows that fit the openings just right. This is less critical with new construction. With new construction you can frame the openings to fit the windows. When replacing existing windows you typically don’t change the size of the opening. In a replacement project a custom sized window will be the recommend solution to ensure an exact fit.

Are windows from Lowes better than Home Depot?

No. The stock windows at both Lowes and Home Depot are pretty similar. They’re both very low end options. Box stores generally sell the cheapest possible windows so they are not recommended options. Find replacement window reviews here to find a better choice.

  1. My builder installed single hung aluminum Reliabuilt windows in my new barndominium, which leaked water ever time it rained. The leaks were around the windows and through the windows themselves; between the glass and aluminum below where the window locks are. Have you seen this before? Any thoughts or advice? The builder refused to do anything or help but make a mess with caulking alk over and around the windows. Lowes said they couldn’t do anything since we didn’t purchase directly from them. We also didn’t have any documentation on the windows themselves to go through the manufacturer. Help.

Hi there, sorry to hear about your trouble with the Reliabilt windows. Did this leak start immediately or after some period of time? If everything was ok for a while and the leak started some time after install you’ll want to look for what changed in that time. That’ll be your problem. If the leak started immediately after install then it’s defininltey either a window or an install issue.

Did the builder give you any warranty on their work? Commonly big builders give a 1 year warranty on new houses. If you have anything like that in place it should be easy enough to sort out.

Assuming you don’t have that I’d start by getting a copy of the Reliabilt window warranty and reading the requirements. It’s pretty common for builders to provide and install windows so I would think they’d have process for dealing with that.

The actual warranty will spell out the coverage. It may be a relatively short time frame as they’re generally lower end windows. If it only offers coverage for a year or two and you’re past that point then there’s no point in worrying about the warranty as they won’t cover anything extra.

They may also say the issue was caused by the installation and not the widows. That’s relatively common and if that’s the case you’d need the builder to be involved. Without their involvement your option might be to hire someone else to inspect the windows and provide some sort of report showing the cause. I don’t know how much I’d spend on that because suing the builder or the manufacturer might not be worth the cost or energy.

You’ll also want to try to recreate the leak with a hose. Use the hose to simulate rain and not to simulate a pressure washer. You should be able to narrow down exactly where water is getting in.

It is much more common to see leaks around windows rather than through them. If you’re sure there is water getting through the window look for clogged or blocked drain holes on the outside. You can compare the problem window with others to see what they’re supposed to look like. Of course that’s assuming they’re not all leaking. I’ve seen cases where an installer caulked over weep holes which prevented water from draining and caused a leak. Sometimes people know a lot less about windows than they think they do.

It could also be a problem with flashing which might be as easy as removing a trim board, but I’d try to really narrow down the location where the water is getting in before you start taking things apart.

Let us know what you find out.

      1. We did all of that over the course of months and months of delay. It cost over $10k to replace the windows and repair damages done. The builder just said “there’s no fix”, that was truly their words . . . They wouldn’t provide anything to help; proof of purchase, their insurance, nothing at all. I was just wondering if you had seen or heard of who others had this type of issues with those windows, and yes, they all were leaking and it happened with the first rain. It didn’t stop till we covered the windows with plastic sheeting and had them replaced with custom windows.

Wow, that’s a rough experience. I’ve defininltey heard of problems with ReliaBilt windows and I’ve seen so pretty low quality examples. That said I don’t think they should all just leak immediately after install.

If ReliaBilt wouldn’t help without proof of purchase the builder defininltey should have given you that info. It seems odd that they wouldn’t the helpful if there was a manufacturing defect. I just read through the ReliaBilt window warranty it says the first customer user is covered by the warranty so you would have been covered. If one of my customers received defective windows we’d be all over the manufacturer to make it right. That happens sometimes and it’s generally pretty simple to resolve.

When you had them replaced did the second installer say anything about the original installation or about what he found in looking at the old windows?

    1. thewindowdog says:

Hi Frank, I don’t deal with that brand, but I’d suggest contacting the company that installed them to ask about the process. Or you can contact the warranty department at ReliaBilt windows to inquire about the process.

  2. Donna Devine says:

I bought the reliabilit windows from Lowe’s. They were pretty they were cheap. They were perfect. I put them up, Went inside and had insulate them for the winter. They leak so bad. The Whole window construct doesn’t make sense. Poorly built poorly built.
