Best replacement windows in Massachusetts

Here are the best window companies in Massachusetts!

Are you the best window company in your town?  We may be looking for you, details here.

Should you get vinyl, composite fiberglass or wood windows in Massachusetts?

It obviously gets pretty cold in the winter but the summers can be hot as well. You’ll want windows that can stand up and perform well in this climate.

When you compare the options vinyl windows will be the most energy efficient, they’ll have the best warranties and the best prices.

That’s why vinyl replacement windows are the most popular choice by a pretty wide margin.

Fiberglass and composite windows can look really nice. That’s their strength. The cost is higher, the efficiency is sometimes not as good, but the look can be really great.

If the look is the most important factor and the cost and efficiency aren’t critical you might consider fiberglass or composite. Otherwise, high-quality vinyl windows are probably your best bet in Massachusetts.

Are federal tax credits now available for energy efficient replacement windows in Massachusetts?

Yes! You can now order windows that are efficient enough to qualify for federal tax credits. Qualifying windows will be very efficient. As a result, they will also cost more than windows that don’t qualify.

The price increase will often not be offset by the tax credits so this isn’t necessarily a money saving move.

Many people do pick these windows. The reason is that you get very efficient windows and the cost of the upgrade is reduced by the tax credit. It still works out to be a very good deal.

Most windows will not qualify for tax credits. Be sure to talk to your window company and be very clear about the efficiency ratings that your new windows will achieve.

Visit to see the products and watch the instruction videos that show the ease of installation. I will send you a free Block Lock if you are interested in seeing the product first hand.

Help! Single woman trying to replace two oversized (40” x 52”) windows and a full view storm door (32” x 80”). Prices at big box stores are great but I’ve head negative things about the random installers they use. A window company came out and gave me a quote of $2,200 for Larson products and install. Pella quote was $3,400. My zip is 02861. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    1. thewindowdog says:

I recently had 12 Harvey Classic windows installed by a reputable contracter November 2021 and all ofthe windows are drafty…..The contracter came back and added insulation by removing trim but it did not help….A Harvey rep came to the house with the contracter and they both claim everything is good …..My old windows were much better (less drafty)and they were 15 years old…..We are going to get new windows but we cant afford to make another mistake

    1. thewindowdog says:

Hi Philip, I’m sorry to hear about your trouble with Harvey Classic windows. Did they tell you what the air infiltration rating was supposed to be for that model? That’ll be an easy way to compare how air tight different window models are. If you’d like a recommendation for a window company in Mass, or anywhere else in the country, check out this section.
