HiMark Windows Reviews

HiMark Windows Reviews

As we get started with these HiMark windows reviews it’ll be helpful to know that HiMark is a brand made by Okna windows and they’re very similar products.

It’s not too unusual for a manufacturer to sell windows under several brand names. Okna does it and many others do as well. Typically the reason they do it is to help their dealers differentiate themselves from their local competitors.

Here you can see the beveled frame of the HiMark window.

Okna will typically only sell one window line through one dealer in any city. For example, if you want to buy an Okna 500 window there’s probably one guy in town who sells it. If you want to buy an Okna 800 window there’s probably a different guy selling that window model.

This strategy is commonly used by smaller manufacturers. It helps the dealers make more profit with less local competition. Exclusive distribution like that is usually used by smaller manufacturers because larger manufacturers want to sell more windows so they need more than one dealer in each town.

Why sell windows under the HiMark brand?

As a manufacturer grows they’ll often want to sell more windows in each town. They don’t want to alienate the dealers who have had these exclusive distribution agreements so the manufacturer will market the products under different names. Enter HiMark. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just the way the world works.

The strategy is usually done to help the local dealers make more profit. That means the prices may be higher than you’d see for other models. That’s also not necessarily bad. More profitable dealers can often provide better service.

Car dealers are in the same boat. If there are 5 Ford dealerships in a 10 mile radius each one is less profitable and the service may not be as good, the facilities may not be as nice, etc. When they limit distribution they can make the local dealers more profitable. Then you see better service, nicer facilities, etc.

So, all of that doesn’t mean that HiMark windows are overpriced and it doesn’t mean that you’ll get better service from a HiMark window dealers. I have to think that’s what they’re going for.

HiMark Windows Reviews

You’ll find the HiMark windows are very similar to the Okna 800 window line. That is to say they’re pretty nice.

One unique feature is that the HiMark windows can hold a very thick insulated glass unit.

HiMark windows reviews and efficiency
Here you can see how thick the HiMark sash is. That thickness allows for a very thick insulated glass unit.

The salesman will tell you that the additional thickness of the sash makes the window better, but does it really? It depends.

Here are the efficiency ratings for the common HiMark 1000 series packages. As you can see the U-Factor of 0.26 for the double pane packages is pretty typical. Not all that remarkable.

The U-Factor of 0.16 for the triple pane package is pretty good. That’s also the most expensive option so not the most popular. If you’re considering that package you’d just need to decide if the additional cost is worth the increase in efficiency. For some people it is, and for others it’s not.

Do HiMark windows look like wood windows?

There are some style features of the HiMark windows that are designed to look like a wood window. For example, you can see the handle they use on the top sash here.

They say that handle is designed to look like a handle you’d see on a wood window. I don’t think I’m a huge fan of that style but you’re the one thinking of buying these windows. It’s just a style thing so it’s up to you if you like the look or not.

What’s the bottom line?

The HiMark windows are designed to be a higher end window and they look very nice. They’re made by Okna windows which is a brand that has defininltey been growing in popularity over the last several years.

The distribution is limited so the prices will likely be higher than you’ll find if you were to look at other manufacturers. That’s not necessarily the case all the time, but this isn’t going to be the low cost option in any market.

It’s really going to be up to you if the value you get from a window like this is worth the cost you pay. There isn’t any consistent pricing out there so the only way to know how the price will compare is to get a quote and find out.
