Who makes WeatherLok windows?

The WeatherLok product line is made by Atrium windows. Atrium is owned by Ply Gem windows and they’re owned by Conerstone Building Brands. This ins’t necessarily great for the customer as Atrium is known for making lower end windows. They don’s use the Atrium name on the WeatherLok marketing info and I can only assume that’s to keep the brands separated to avoid any negative association.

Is the WeatherLok warranty any good?

The warranty on these windows is decent but certainly not the best we’ve seen. The lower end replacement windows, 3100, 3201, 3500 series come with prorated warranties on the insulated glass. That’s not ideal as it’s the most likely part to fail over time.

The nicer models like the 3900, 700, 705 series come with non-prorated warranties on the insulated glass which is a nicer warranty.

They do reserve the right to just refund you the cost of the window if there’s a problem. That’s defininltey not ideal. If you have some difficult or expensive problem with your windows it would be easy for them to just give you $500 and send you on your way. That may not be the solution you want.

There is also no labor coverage at all in the WeatherLok warranty which is defininltey not ideal. If you’re thinking of buying these windows you’d want to be sure you get a written labor warranty from the dealer. Even with that, you’re taking a gamble that the dealer will still be around in 20 years. The odds are decent that he won’t be.

What colors are available for WeatherLok windows?

Below you can see the available colors for the top of the line WeatherLok 3900 series windows. The color options are a little more limited than what you’ll see from larger manufacturers but there are several choices.

Note there’s no option for a black interior or exterior. I can only expect they’ll add that one of these days as it’s a very popular option lately for most manufactures.

What’s the bottom line?

I don’t see the value in this brand. The products are perfectly decent but not special. The features, even on the nicest 3900 series model, are pretty basic. They have fiberglass reinforcement, lower end constant force balances, and very average efficiency ratings.

In my opinion you can find a better option.

When shopping for windows I do always suggest finding a great installation company before you fall in love with any particular window model. There are plenty of great window options out there but not as many local companies that are great to work with.
