Okna Windows FAQ

Okna windows reviews prices cost warranty

Find our Okna windows FAQ below. Here we’ll look at all of the common questions we get about Okna windows. If you have a question that isn’t answered we invite you to post a comment at the bottom to ask your question. We read all of the comments and will be happy to answer your question for everyone to see.

Does Okna own other window brands?

Yes. Okna also makes the HiMark and Starmark window lines. We have reviews and info on both of those brands linked above.

Are Okna windows good?

Yes. Okna windows are perfectly good. They are sometimes overpriced depending on the local dealer so that is something to watch out for. There is typically only one or two companies in any town that sell Okna windows. If the local company in your area isn’t great or uses some of the sales tactics we talk about here you’ll be better off finding another option. There is no need to deal with a company that doesn’t treat you well just to get these windows.

What is the best Okna window model?

Okna makes several window models. Popular options include the Okna 500 and Okna 800 models. The Okna 600 model is probably one of the nicer of the bunch. All Okna window dealers will not have access to all windows as their distribution is very limited. If you’re considering purchasing Okna windows I would fist find a dealer you’re comfortable with. There’s no need to fall in love with any particular window model before you know if the company offering that model in your area is any good.

Is the Okna window warranty any good?

It’s pretty typical. Okna offers a lifetime warranty on their windows which is what you’ll get from most window manufacturers. There are some limitations like stress cracks are only covered for the first year and internal blinds are only covered for 10 years. You should review the Okna warranty before making your purchase.

Why do people buy Okna windows?

Because the salesman told them to. Most people have never heard of Okna windows (or most other manufacturers) until they started shopping for new windows. Some of the companies selling Okna windows do a great job of explaining the features and benefits and that leads to more sales. At the end of the day Okna produces perfectly fine windows and there are many other window manufactures also producing very nice windows. You can find many more options here.

Do Okna windows up upgraded parts?

Yes. Okna windows use several upgraded parts that other manufacturers may not use. For example, they’ll use upgraded block and tackle balances that you’ll see in several other premium windows like Sunrise, Gentek, Preservation and more.

Using upgraded components in the windows is one way you can tell the manufacturer is trying to produce a quality product rather than a cheap option. There are many premium windows out there and you can find reviews and information here.

Is the Duralite spacer in Okna windows good?

Yes. The duralite spacer that is offered by Okna and many other companies is a perfectly good option. This is a non-metallic spacer that goes between the panes of glass. Ultimately, window salespeople will often try to distract you with stories about window parts like spacers. If you’re concerned about efficiency you should look at the efficiency ratings to see how well a window will perform. The proof is in the pudding, everything else is just story telling.

How long does it take to get Okna windows?

The time it takes to get custom made windows can vary quite a bit depending on the demand at any time. I’d expect 10-12 weeks to get your custom Okna windows and it can sometimes take longer. You should talk to your dealer about the current lead time to get an idea of what you should expect. You can find more info about how long it takes to get windows in 2022 here.

Are Okna windows energy efficient?

Yes. Okna offers only a few efficiency options. The options they do offer are perfectly nice and tend to be on the more efficient end of the spectrum. Ultimately all manufacturers are playing with the same deck of cards when it comes to efficiency options. Okna does a good job of maximizing the benefit they can get out of each component.

Are Okna windows too expensive?

Sometimes. Okna windows are sometimes sold by old fashioned window dealers who use all of the silly old fashioned window sales gimmicks. For example, if you hear a salesman telling you that you need to buy today to get the special sale you should look elsewhere. All companies selling Okna windows do not operate this way and some offer perfectly fair deals, but the high pressure type is out there as well.

Are Okna windows vinyl?

Yes. Okna manufacturers several lines of vinyl windows.

Where are Okna windows made?

Okna windows are made in Bristol, PA.

  1. Thanks for the great blog!

I have received similarly-priced quotes to replace 29 windows for the following:
    – Sunrise Standard
    – Okna 500 Series
    – Alside Mezzo

Any thoughts or guidance that may help me make a decision?

Thanks and thanks for all the great information that you provide

    1. thewindowdog says:

Hi Mike, I have the most direct experience with the Alside Mezzo vs the Okna 500 or Sunrise. I do think that all three can provide a perfectly good solution. What city are you in? You’ll sometimes find better options as far as distributors or installers in different areas.

  2. Thanks.

I am in Northern Virginia outside of DC.

    I am leaning toward Sunrise.

I just got another estimate for Revere Berkshire Elite, which was to lowest among Sunrise, Mezzo and Okna 500.

    Any other thoughts?

    1. thewindowdog says:

I’m pretty familiar with the Berkshire Elite line as that’s one we’ve dealt with for a long time. I would suggest that over the others you’ve listed. Usually the prices are about the same as Sunrise or Okna and it’s from a larger manufacturer. It’s also an upgrade from the Mezzo model so probably a good choice for most people.

It looks like you requested a quote from our company a few days ago. The prices are generally lower because you’re not paying 10-20% of the contract amount as commission for the in-home salesman. I tend to think the Revere option will be a nicer result than the other brands and you’re not spending a bunch on sales commissions. Let me know if you have any questions about that or if there’s anything I can help with.

  3. This site has been a great resource as I’ve been looking at replacement windows for the first time. The first quote we got was Renewal by Andersen, which employed the glossary of sales strategies before making a hilarious offer.

We are looking at replacing a bunch of double hung windows in our forever home in Cleveland. They will be replacing 100-year old single pane windows, which are great for their age but quite drafty and are heat sieves. If bids are in the same ballpark for price, how would you rank the following for quality/efficiency?

    OKNA Eco-Pro 600
    Stanek Comfort-Gard PLUS
Seaway (not sure on the model, let’s assume not the cheapest)
    Andersen more basic model (100?)

    Thank you!

    1. thewindowdog says:

Hi Aaron, I’m glad you’ve found the site to be helpful. From the list of choices there I think you may have met with my friends at Window Universe in Cleveland. If that’s the case I’d say they’re definitely the way to go. I’ve known the owners of that company since we were all just out of school and you won’t find a better group to work with. If you haven’t met with them yet just let me know and I’ll get you an email introduction.

  4. john dziubek says:

I had 24 OKNA 500 windows double pane glass installed on my house in 2021. In December of 2022, I became aware of moisture between the panes of glass on some of these windows. This moisture goes away when the temperature outside changes. I have contacted OKNA. Their representative says this is normal. He said this moisture was in between the panes of glass when it was filled with argon gas. Is this normal ? Is the moisture an indication that the window seals have failed?

    1. thewindowdog says:

Hi John, have you talked to the Okna dealer who installed them? They can sometimes be the most helpful. It does seem a little unusual to me, but if the seal had failed you’d see the moisture getting worse over time. If that’s not happening then it might not be a big deal. Let us know what the dealer says.

  5. Hi John,
