As we get into the Starmark windows reviews it’s important to note that these windows are made by Okna and are often referred to as the Okna 900 series. Separating the branding to make these an independent brand from the other Okna windows is a little unique.

I assume they separate the brands because the Starmark Evo windows are a different material than the other Okna offerings like the 500 series and 800 series models.

The Starmark Evo windows are a composite window which means they have a thicker structure than a typical vinyl window. A salesman might make all sorts of claims about that, but really the point is to look more like a wood window.

In the two pictures above you can see the main selling point for the Starmark Evo windows. The fact that the frames are a solid material rather than the hollow, or sometimes foam filled, frames of a vinyl window.

Are composite windows better than vinyl windows?

This is a question we’re asked all the time and the answer is, not really.

The Starmark salesman might make all sorts of claims about why that design is better. To come to your own conclusion you’d want to define “better”. For a composite window to be better than another style it would need to be more efficient, or look better or work better. Without any of those things is it really better at all?

When it comes to composite windows like this one they really don’t operate better, they’re not more efficient than a nicer vinyl window so that leaves the looks.

Do composite windows look better than vinyl windows?

That’s really up to you but I’m not sold on the idea. Composite windows will generally have thicker frames than vinyl windows so they can block more light.

A composite window is really trying to look like a wood window. That look might be worth the extra cost to you. I’d suggest that if the look is critical you might consider a real wood window instead. Why get imitation wood when you can get the real thing with a similar warranty?

Of course lots of people get these Starmark windows along with other brands of composite windows. I’m just not 100% sold on the idea.

How much do Starmark windows cost?

The cost is the main downside to Starmark composite windows vs vinyl windows. For any composite window you’ll be paying a premium price. As we discussed above you don’t necessarily get a premium result which is part of the reason these windows make up a small share of the market.

The costs for replacement windows have been changing quite a bit lately. I would say you’re likely to find Starmark windows in the $1500 – $2000 each range including installation.

What’s the bottom line?

Starmark Evo windows are perfectly nice. To understand if they make sense for your project you’ll want to look at the cost vs the value. They definitely do cost more than a similarly efficiency vinyl window so the question is what do you get for that extra money.

In my opinion all you get is a nice look which can be worth an additional cost. I bought a new car a while back and paid more for one that looked cool. That’s a fine reason to pay a premium for something.

My advice typically is that if the look of a wood window is important to you then you might want to consider a real wood window instead. The costs can be similar and the real one is going to look the best in the long run.
