Yes. Polaris makes decent windows. The challenge is that they’re not very widely distributed so the dealer in your town may not be the best and you may not have the option to work with someone else.
If the dealer in your town is not so great there’s no need to deal with them. There are plenty of fish in the sea and plenty of other great window options.
Sometimes. Polaris windows are often sold by commission based in-home salespeople who will determine the final cost. If you feel like the quote you received for Polaris windows is too expensive you should get another quote or two to compare. Find info on 2022 window prices here.
Yes, but not more efficient than many other options. Polaris makes fine windows with a handful of efficiency options. If you pick one of the more efficient packages you should get an efficient result. If you’re looking for other option to compare you can find detailed window reviews here.
Vinyl. Polaris windows are vinyl windows. Vinyl is the most popular material for residential windows in the US because it is durable, energy efficient and cost effective.
It is better than many other window warranties. Polaris offers a lifetime warranty on their windows like most companies. The coverage on the insulated glass unit is 30 years and the warranty on the internal blinds is only 10 years. There is also no glass breakage or labor coverage so it’s not as strong of a warranty as you might find elsewhere.
I probably wouldn’t, but they’ll probably provide a fine result. The biggest risk with Polaris windows is just the small nature of their business. Many small manufacturers have gone out of business since we’ve started this site and almost all of those customers were left with no warranty or access to replacement parts. That’s not good.
There has been a lot of consolidation in the window manufacturing business over the last several years. It wouldn’t surprise me if Polaris was purchased by a larger manufacturer and that would probably be a good sign for the longevity of the business.
Not usually. Polaris windows are often sold by in-home salespeople which is a very expensive business model. The sales and marketing costs will drive up the price of the project. Very few products are still sold by in-home salesmen but windows remain one of them. As long as that is the case the overall cost will be higher than would be necessary if the products were sold online.
Polaris windows are custom made so it can take some time for them to be ready to install. We’d expect to see Polaris windows manufactured in 12 weeks or so. This does not include time needed for measuring and time to schedule the installation. The overall project will take longer. You can find more info about how long it takes to get windows in 2022 here.
Pricing for Polaris windows will vary quite a lot depending on the options you pick, the nature of the installation and the commission that the salesman wants to make. Unfortunately, vinyl windows are often sold by commission based in-home salesmen with quite a lot of discretion over he final price. The higher the price the higher the commission. That’s one reason people are starting to order windows online without in-home salesmen.
Polaris windows are made in two manufacturing plants in the Youngstown, OH area. These windows are distributed to 38 states.
